Instituto Superior Técnico
The Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), created in 1911, is the largest and most reputed school of engineering, science and technology in Portugal. IST's mission is to contribute to the development of society by promoting a higher education of outstanding quality in the areas of Engineering, Science and Technology, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and by carrying out research and development activities in accordance with the highest international standards.
With two conveniently located campuses ('Alameda' in Lisbon and 'Taguspark' in Oeiras), IST consists of ten Departments and one Autonomous Section that are responsible for teaching Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes. In addition, there are a great number of R&D centres located on campus, which are an important source of support to the teaching and research activities carried out at IST.
You can visit IST online at www.ist.utl.pt.
The conference will be held at the IST Congress Centre (click image below to access Google Maps location)

Being inside the IST campus, it shares every facility commonly found in a modern university complex. In particular, the Congress Centre has excellent accessibility, either by underground, bus or train, several hotels and student university rooms are within 5-10 min. walking distance. The conference site will provide adjacent rooms to the lecture room, for posters, exhibitions, coffee-breaks, lunch and standard internet facilities.
The IST campus is very conveniently located in the town, at a close distance from its centre and the airport, being served by a nearby underground station (Saldanha, at the crossing of the Red and the Yellow lines).
A social program is also being scheduled and the Congress should run in a very pleasant and relaxed way in a host city that is also rather attractive, steeped in culture and history, overlooking the majestic river Tagus on its final stretch towards the sea.
