The capabilities of the burst-mode analysis, used to extract the density profile, automatically in the presence of plasma turbulence, are assessed using a 2D FDTD full wave code. The limitations and advantages of the burst-mode method are compared with single sweep and averaging analysis. Numerical simulations confirm the experimental number of sweeps per burst, found empirically from a large number of reflectometry measurements at ASDEX Upgrade, for a sweep rate of 25 micro-sec and a repetition rate of 10 micro-sec. |
