Resumo
The two dimensional (2d), electrostatic edge-SOL turbulence code ESEL is used to simulate the
perpendicular dynamics of transport events in the JET Scrape Off Layer (SOL) and the self consistent
development of the SOL profiles at the outboard midplane. The code results are compared to probe
measurements of the JET SOL. Qualitative agreement is shown amongst others for profiles, for the
magnetic field direction independent part of the parallel flow, and the correlation between parallel
and perpendicular velocity fluctuations. The code predict magnetic field independent parallel
flows with velocities of 0.2 ion sound speed The prospect of performing similar simulations for
ITER is discussed.
