Post-doctoral fellows

If we can identify opportunities that fit your profile, we will contact you. Graduate students

We are always looking for bright, young, and highly motivated students that wish to pursue a PhD degree, with a background in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical engineering. If you fit this profile, and you want to join or to visit for a long period our team to work on our research topics send an email to Bruno Soares Gonçalves with a resumé, a letter with your research interests and the name of three referees that we can contact to obtain further information about you. Also please browse through these webpages and our publications to identify the topics that might fit better your interests. You should also apply to the IPFN Doctoral Program Applause, which funds up to 10 PhD student positions per year.

IST MSc students

Look up the advertised thesis subjects in the Physics Department webpage or get in touch with a particular potential supervisor of Engineering and Systems Integration Group. Check the research webpage for more information about what we do. In these cases, we may be able to offer a fellowship (Initiation to Research) depending on your CV, abilities and commitment. Note that this involves spending a significant amount of your weekly schedule at IPFN with Engineering team.

Typical (but not limited to) candidate profile:

Undergraduate students

The group of Engineering and Systems Integration opens periodic calls for undergraduate research placements (“estágios”). These are widely advertised, and they are your opportunity to enroll with us. Applications consist of: your CV, academic record, and a research interests statement, eventually followed by an interview. These placements last for a minimum of 2 months, and can be extended or evolve into an MSc Thesis depending on mutual interest and performance. We do not provide fellowships (“bolsas”) for this kind of placements (“estágios”).

International students (MSc or PhD)

If you fit the profile we are looking for (see sections above), we are happy to welcome you in our team, depending on your CV and time/resources availability. Usually we cannot provide financial support except for truly outstanding students that intend to join our team in the future as PhD students.
