APS DPP Conference 2024

The 66th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics (DPP), held on 7-11 October 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia, gathered researchers from all over the world to discuss the most recent advances in plasma physics.

IPFN researchers Frederico Fiúza, Diogo Carvalho, Paulo Alves, Bernardo Barbosa, Thales Silva, Kevin Schoeffler, and Luís Gil (from left to right), presented their work at the conference.

Established in 1959, the Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) of the American Physical Society (APS) is dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge, understanding, and applications of plasmas. The research encompasses the study of the fundamental interactions of particles and light in plasmas, the study of astrophysical plasmas from planetary cores to stars, new theoretical and computational techniques, and practical applications in energy, manufacturing, medicine, agriculture, and national security. Research in pursuit of controlled nuclear fusion holds the promise of providing limitless, clean, sustainable energy to the world.
