IPFN awarded 1 M€ in ITER contract

Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear (IPFN) has been awarded a direct contract with ITER (www.iter.org) following the bid to an international call for Tender among the different partners to this project, R&D institutions and companies from the European Union member states. The research contract, of approximately 1 million euros and 18 months duration, aims at developing prototypes for the Fast Plant System Controllers of the device. The consortium led by IPFN, also includes Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT) from Madrid and portuguese companies. This is the first ITER contract awarded to a Portuguese research unit.
