Graphene research highlighted on the cover of Small
A recent advance in graphene research from IPFN has been highlighted on the cover of Small, a prestigious a weekly journal covering nanotechnology. The cover art illustrates the plasma synthesis of graphene sheets and the in-situ incorporation of nitrogen atoms into a graphene scaffold to control its dielectric permittivity, related to the paper published by E. Tatarova et al. in this edition.
In their work, they report dielectric constant values smaller than one and even negative, within the microwave frequency range. This advancement is crucial as it opens new pathways for the manipulation of electromagnetic wave behaviour, revealing the potential of plasma-driven design of two-dimensional materials at the atomic scale.
