Tito Mendonça selected APS Outstanding Referee

Professor Tito Mendonça has been selected as an Outstanding Referee by the American Physical Society (APS). This recognition is awarded annually to scientists who have provided exceptional service in the peer-review process across APS journals. The distinction highlights Professor Mendonça’s contributions to maintaining the quality and integrity of published research in physics.

The highly selective APS Outstanding Referee program annually recognizes a small percentage of the roughly 50,000 referees who have reviewed papers during the previous year.

Tito Mendonça is a research professor at IPFN and a retired professor at IST. Throughout his career, he was head of the physics department, leader of GoLP and director of the Euratom-IST Association. He published pioneering work on photon acceleration, time refraction, optical cascades, stochastic acceleration, neutrino–plasma interactions and twisted plasma waves. His current interests include ultracold matter, photon condensation, laser accelerators, axion–plasma coupling, quantum vacuums and quantum turbulence.
