IPFN wins Best Demo Award at expat’25
On the 5th of September, a team of BSc students in Engineering Physics at Instituto Superior Técnico, received the Best Demo Award at the 7th Experiment@ International Conference – expat’25 in Açores.
The award-winning project, developed on the eLab platform for remotely controlled laboratories, supervised by Professor and IPFN researcher Horácio Fernandes was recognized at this biannual conference bringing together engineers, researchers and professionals from different areas, focusing on remotely controlled experimentation and the Industry 5.0.
In the context of the 2025 International Year of Quantum Science & Technology, a device was created based on the well-known Dirac Three Polarizers Experiment, expanding its interpretation. The experimental apparatus can be reached online at https://elab.vps.tecnico.ulisboa.pt:8000/.
In the demo demonstration, Francisco Laranjo, demonstrated the usefulness of this experiment by showcasing some of the fundamental principles in quantum mechanics, namely, the principles of quantum state superposition and provided results in agreement with the single photon quantum interpretation.
