APS DPP Conference 2025

From 17 to 21 November 2025, IPFN researchers presented new results in fusion and plasma physics at the 67th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) in Long Beach, California. The meeting offered a full programme of invited talks, contributed oral sessions and poster presentations.

Established in 1959 and now counting around 2,500 members, the APS DPP is dedicated to advancing and disseminating knowledge, from fundamental interactions of particles and light to astrophysical systems and plasma-based technologies for energy, medicine and manufacturing.

IPFN was represented across several areas of the scientific programme by Paulo Alves, João Biu, Pablo Claveria, Luís Gil, Rogério Jorge, Filipe Cruz, Luís O. Silva, Pablo Bilbao, Diogo Carvalho and Kevin Schoeffler (from left to right). The delegation included current PhD students, researchers and alumni who remain closely involved in collaborations with the institute.

Research into controlled nuclear fusion continues to play a central role in DPP activities, with the long-term goal of providing clean and sustainable energy for the world.
