Tiago C Dias awarded at GEC

Tiago C. Dias, a member of N-PRiME/IPFN and a PhD student in the  APPLAuSE program, was awarded the Student Award for Excellence at the 76th Gaseous Electronics Conference (GEC), organized by the American Physical Society (APS) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.

Tiago Dias was selected as one of the six finalists for this award, based on his significant contributions during the PhD (V. Guerra, supervisor). The final prize was awarded following his presentation 'Unified Monte Carlo Formulation of Nanosecond Discharges.' Tiago's Monte Carlo formulation has significantly improved the understanding of plasma dynamics, eliminating common approximations that impact the quality of results.

The GEC Student Award for Excellence encourages and recognizes the important contributions students make to the GEC and the field of low-temperature plasma science. The award is composed by a cash prize and a certificate.

Congratulations Tiago !
